R&TTE, EMC & Safety: What's new?

EMC => Car

UN/ECE-R10 Rev.4 => Type Approval

In an effort to simplify automotive type-approval requirements through standard harmonization on EU level, the Regulation (EC) No. 661/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009 stipulated that with effect from 1 November 2014 Directive 72/245/EEC on radio interference (electromagnetic compatibility) of vehicles will no longer be valid. Instead, and from this date on, Regulation UN/ECE-R10 is to be applied for all type-approval requirements for the general safety of motor vehicles, their trailers and systems, components and separate technical units intended therefore.

UN/ECE-R10 Rev.4 => RESS (Rechargeable Energy Storage System)

Also new is that revision #4 stipulates that electric vehicles with RESS which can be connected to public electricity supply networks, must comply with UN/ECE-R10. CETECOM’s Battery Test Center is fully prepared and ready to test automotive Li-Ion battery systems according to UN-ECE-R10 Rev 4. Don’t hesitate to contact CETECOM for more information!

LV124 => New EMC norm

By means of the new norm LV124 the automobile manufacturers (OEM’s) have agreed upon a harmonized norm for electromagnetic tests for automotive systems, parts and components. This new norm LV124 is hidden behind the specific norms of the individual automobile manufacturers e.g. VW8000 for VW, GS95024-2-1 for BMW and MBN 10615 for Mercedes Benz. CETECOM can provide a complete overview and has invested in additional equipment in order to be able to carry out LV124 to its full extend.
