Bluetooth® Testing

Regulatory tests for products with Bluetooth technology

Many technical products are equipped with interfaces for Bluetooth®. The use of this technology results in different test scenarios that are necessary for certification and thus for the market launch of a device. Whether regulatory Bluetooth® tests, which are essential for market approval, or test scenarios based on the specifications of the private certification regime Bluetooth SIG: We perform all test options that are relevant for your product – reliably and goal-oriented.

Regulatory requirements for Bluetooth® products

Before a device with Bluetooth® function is approved, the manufacturer must make a precise selection of the technology. In the meantime, there are various variants of Bluetooth® technology. Regulatory Bluetooth® tests are necessary for all variants on the basis of the certification regimes.

Here is an example for the EU, USA, Canada and Japan:

Variant EU (CE) USA (FCC) Canada (ISED) Japan (ARIB)
Bluetooth® 4.2
(Classic and Low Energy)
EN 300 328 FCC Part 15.247 ISED RSS-247 Ordinary Regulatory Radio Equipment Art. 2 item 19
Bluetooth® 5.x
(Classic and Low Energy)

However, such requirements do not only exist in Europe and the USA. The basic rule for any wireless technology is that market approval in the target country is only possible if the specifications of the relevant authority or institution are demonstrably met. If required, we can provide you with an overview of the requirements that your Bluetooth® product must meet for approval in the desired markets.

The Bluetooth SIG certification

In addition to the regulatory approvals for Bluetooth® products, approval in accordance with the requirements of the Bluetooth SIG is also required for market launch. Every device that uses Bluetooth® technology must pass the so-called “Bluetooth SIG Qualification Program”.

Only by passing these Bluetooth® tests is the manufacturer officially authorized to use Bluetooth® technology and the associated Bluetooth® trademark mark, which stands as a seal of quality for the compatibility of Bluetooth® devices worldwide. If your product does not pass, we will support you – based on reliable results from the tests – in optimizing your device.
