A certification of radio products for the Brazilian market is based on an approval of the local authority Agência Nacional De Telecomunicações (Anatel).
In November 2018, the Authority published a communication on test requirements for radio products. One of the results of this communication is that the number of necessary tests for WLAN products with additional radio technologies will be reduced.
Anatel explained that RF radiation immunity according to IEC 61000-4-3 does not have to be applied to every WLAN technology, but only in the most complex modulation, with the highest burn rate for each frequency band.
An example is a device with WIFI 802.11 b/g/a/n/ac + Bluetooth (EDR+LE) + NFC technology. This results in the following reduced test scope:
|Frequency||Technology||Required Testing of RF Radiated Immunity|
|2.4 GHz||BT EDR||Required||Required|
|2.4 GHz||BT LE||Required||Not Required|
|2.4 GHz||802.11 g||Required||Not Required|
|2.4 GHz||802.11 b||Required||Not Required|
|2.4 GHz||802.11 n20||Required||Not Required|
|2.4 GHz||802.11 n40||Required||Required|
|5 GHz||802.11 a||Required||Not Required|
|5 GHz||802.11 n40||Required||Not Required|
|5 GHz||802.11 ac80||Required||Required|
The number of prescribed tests is thus reduced to four.
