SRRC Certification

The SRRC certification is – analogous to the CCC certification – issued by the State Radio Monitoring and Testing Center. An SRRC certification is relevant for all products that use a radio transmitter in any form. The necessary tests need to be carried out in a test laboratory accredited by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The responsible authority is the State Radio Monitoring and Testing Center (SRTC).

Part of the SRRC certification is the determination of core parameters of products with radio technologies. These include among others

  • frequency
  • frequency band
  • transmitting power
  • frequency tolerance
  • occupied bandwidth
  • parameters of the frequency spectrum (e.g. out-of-band emissions)

Only after a successful SRRC certification, an application for an NAL certification can be made, because the test results of an SRRC certification are the basis for a NAL certification.

Products that require SRRC certification include mobile phones (GSM or CDMA), wireless LAN (WLAN) devices, and devices that use the following technologies:

  • WLAN
  • Bluetooth
  • ZigbeeWiMAX
  • RFID

In an SRRC certification, it is important to note that the government agency reviews the frequencies selected for the product, so the manufacturer is required to correctly identify the frequencies used by the device. In order to obtain approval, transmission power, bandwidth and stray radiation must therefore meet the requirements of the selected frequencies. In addition, some frequencies are not publicly available in China and this limitation must also be taken into account by manufacturers.

Basic information for an SRRC Certification

Validity 5 years
Lead time 10 to 12 weeks
Local tests required Yes
Local representative required No
Approval label required Yes

SRRC certification label

How the SRRC label is structuredThe SRRC label is primarily a word mark and represents the CMIIT ID, which the manufacturer receives from the authorities as part of the approval process. It is important to note that without a CMIIT ID, no product may be imported into China and distributed there.

In summary, it can be said that manufacturers have to cope with different certification scenarios based on their products and the technologies used there. It is advisable to rely on an experienced partner who can support you in identifying the necessary certification regime and the relevant test scope.
