Electrical Safety

Electrical safety is one of the basic requirements your product has to fulfil if you want to place it on the market. The Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC, together with the CE Marking Directive 93/68/EEC, define the essential requirements to demonstrate conformity. In addition the CB Scheme presents a global solution for market access to presently 43 countries.

CETECOM provides safety tests according to:

    • DIN/EN/IEC 60 950
      'Safety of information technology equipment'
    • DIN/EN 60 065
'Audio, video and similar electronic apparatus - Safety requirements' to prevent injury or damage due to hazard, electric shock

The referring safety tests consist of:

    • Energy hazards
    • Fire
    • Mechanical and heat hazards
    • Radiation hazards
    • Chemical hazards

With our state-of-the-art measurement equipment CETECOM tests e.g.:

  • Electric strength
  • Leakage current
  • Resistance to fire
  • Protection from electric shock
  • Protection from energy hazards
  • Physical and constructive requirements

CE Marking

Tests for electrical safety contribute to obtain the certificate of conformity, which is required to be granted access to the European market. Click here for more information on the CE Marking.

CB Scheme

Additionally our test reports fulfil the requirements for the CB Scheme. In cooperation with our partner OVE (Österreichischer Verband für Elektrotechnik) as NCB (National Certification Body) CETECOM provide the 'CB Test Certificate' . The CB Scheme is an international program for the exchange and acceptance of product safety test results among participating certification organizations around the world. The CB Certificate is currently recognized by 48 countires outside the European Union, offering manufacturers a simplified way of obtaining multiple national safety certifications. Click here for more information on the CB Scheme.

Complementary Tests

Besides Safety testing CETECOM provide testing against the applicable regulatory EMC standards (electromagnetic compatibility), which are also required to obtain the CE Marking. Click here for more information on the specific EMC testing.
