Battery Safety Certificate

TÜV Nord Mobility, TÜV Nord Cert and CETECOM jointly worked out the Battery Safety Certificate, which is the ctriterion for safe battery systems. Supplier of battery systems but also manufacturers use the Battery Safety Certificate to prove that they have fullfilled their duty in providing safe battery systems. Especially driven by the aspect of product liability the Battery Safety Certificate evolves to quasi-obligation. The Battery Safety Certificate consideres all these aspects of the battery safety, which effect the overall safety in the homologation of entire vehicles. In detail these are:
- Battery Safety in operation and extreme situations
- Electromagnetic Compatibility of the system
- Electrical Safety of the Battery and Driving System (High Voltage System)
- Functional Safety when implemented in the electric vehicle
After testing the individual blocks, a competent body of TÜV Nord Cert evaluates the results and the technical documents and issues the Battery Safety Certificate. With the Battery Safety Certificate, a safety data sheet is provided, in which important parameters and specifications for the further use of the battery system are given (For example: recuperation capacity, warnings, recycling procedures, type of recommended fire-fighting, etc.). The Certification is completed with integration of the production into the certification process (CoP - Conformity of Production / Factory Inspection).
