PRESS RELEASE

Saarbruecken, February 2012,
The SmartCard Test Laboratory of CETECOM ICT Services GmbH has reached another important accreditation. EMVCo approved CETECOM’s competence and capability in the performance of approval testing for contactless credit cards according to the EMVCo PICC L1 Approval requirements. With this, CETECOM further enhances its already very broad service portfolio. In the same course, this means the acceptance by MasterCard to perform application testing for the mobile payment scheme launched under the term MasterCard PayPass and further to bring contactless credit cards and mobile devices into and through the approval process.

Mobile Payment, meaning the payment through a smart phone having an NFC antenna, is going to gain importance during the next months. Leading Manufacturer of mobile devices such as SmartPhones and Tablet PCs are expected to implement mobile payment applications in at least a part of their product lines. It will be the task of the newly established laboratory section at CETECOM to test these mobile payment functions with respect to the compliance to the requirements of the credit card technology.

Dr. Jean Creignou, project leader for the set-up of the testing for contactless card applications said: „With this accreditation CETECOM manages to combine two of CETECOMs core competences: SmartCard applications on one hand and conformity testing for mobile terminal devices. Especially now, where manufacturers of mobile terminal devices are identifying their additional need to be part of the payment application schemes, this service enhancement means a very important unique selling proposition.“

„Furthermore, the combination of more physically based tests for EMVCo PICC Level 1 and the application testing for MasterCard PayPass covers the complete approval range for devices with a payment interface which is in most cases based on NFC. This will furthermore support our efforts in the qualification of NFC products.”, completed Gerhard Schirra, Managing Director at CETECOM ICT Services GmbH.

Antriebsbatterien entsprechen einheitlichen Standards,
so dass die Ergebnisse weltweit reproduzierbar sind. Mit
der Zertifizierung durch TÜV NORD erbringen die
Hersteller somit den Nachweis einer unabhängigen
Überprüfung nach dem neuesten Stand der Technik.
„Unsere hochmoderne Labor- und Testumgebung wird
stetig weiterentwickelt.
Gerhard Schirra. Durch die qualifizierte Partnerschaft
bilden TÜV NORD (www.tuev-nord.de) und CETECOM
(www.cetecom.com) eine unabhängige Prüfinstanz auf
allen Gebieten der Elektromobilität.

For immediate release - Determined to lead the market with the fastest wireless applications, North American carriers are demanding significant certification testing by their terminal suppliers before deploying devices on a live LTE network. While the GCF and PTCRB validate their respective conformance tests, many are being used in the carrier certification process to try to accelerate the time to market.

CETECOM has selected the Anritsu ME7834 Mobile Device Test Platform to allow both Conformance and Carrier Acceptance tests to be run on a single platform. They have also used the system to work with carriers to verify the tests for their individual requirements. By working together, CETECOM and Anritsu have built up a comprehensive portfolio of tests that have been
validated on some of the most advanced wireless devices.

The Anritsu ME7834 platform supports carrier acceptance tests specified by the major North American carriers as well as being specified as TP119 by the GCF and PTCRB. Additionally the ME7834 is a highly configurable multi-standard protocol test system supporting all of the world’s popular wireless technologies. Mike Lee (Director of Engineering at Anritsu) stated “The ME7834 provides the most comprehensive test environment for LTE combining a proven GERAN/UTRAN platform for InterRAT support. Users can have systems delivered and commissioned and with training provided, be up and running in the shortest possible time.”

Currently CETECOM provides its LTE testing services in Europe and North America as well as other locations. They have been actively contributing to the LTE standardisation process in 3GPP RAN5 as well as working with specific carriers. Thorsten Stabenau (Director of Corporate Marketing and Sales at CETECOM) stated “With LTE developing at such a pace it is important to
keep test equipment and test scripts up to date. Working with Anritsu we have been able to regularly update our systems and provide the carriers we work with one of the most reliable test platforms for validation of their tests.”

Mike Lee (Director of Engineering at Anritsu) stated “Anritsu has established a solid reputation for its comprehensive system simulator hardware which is the basis of the ME7834. There are other systems using the same hardware running continuously for extended periods with consistent results. Users can be confident that campaigns run overnight will produce meaningful results the
following morning.”
