FCC
Ensuring a communication technology is compliant with its technical specification is only part of what is required for a device to be released to the market. It must also be tested according to regulatory requirements set by the appropriate government agencies of a country. In the U.S., that government agency is the FCC (Federal Communications Commission).
Telecom, licenced RF and low powered transmitters must be approved by the FCC before being released to the U.S. market. To obtain an approval, it must be tested according to FCC standards that are applicable to the device’s radios and integrated technologies.
Telecommunications Certifications Bodies (TCB)
In an efffort to make the certification process more efficient for manufacturers in and outside the USA, the FCC has appointed so-called Telecommunications Certifications Bodies (TCB). A TCB has the authority to review and grant an application for Certification on behalf of the FCC.
