Lithium Batteries
Safety tests for Automotive Batteries
The newly established state-of-the-art battery test centre enables CETECOM to support manufacturers of innovative battery systems in safety qualification for their new products, in particular the testing of Li-battery technology for the automotive market. Lithium batteries are high-performance energy storage devices that have to be handled in an appropriate manner. CETECOM disposes of highly qualified battery specialists; our test facilities consist of separately secured premises, equipped to face the most extreme cases.
Our Battery Safety package for Lithium Batteries include:
- UN Transport Test
CETECOM performs tests according to UN Transport rules. These special regulations have been issued by the UN and are applicable for land, air and sea transportation.- Transport of Dangerous Goods
- ST-SG-AC10-10,38.3: Lithium Batteries
- Simulation of altitudes and air transportation (vacuum tests)
- Extreme temperature variations
- Vibration and mechanical shock
- External short circuits
- Safety Tests
CETECOM performs tests according to regulations and recommendations of manufacturers and official bodies who promote innovative energy storage systems.- Freedom CAR
- Customer specific tests
- USABC (U.S. Advanced Battery Consortium)
- Stress Tests
CETECOM provides further stress tests to ensure the fault-free operation of high-performance batteries even under extreme conditions.- Electrically (overcharged, discharged)
- Mechanically (vibration, acceleration, crush, penetration of foreign objects)
- Climatically (heat, cold, temperature variations, humidity)
- Complementary Test Services
Electromagnetic compatibility and electrical safety are basic requirements to comply with before placing a product on the market. This applies also to high-performance batteries that are integrated in vehicles:
